CITES & Permits

International movement of wildlife is strictly regulated by CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). Navigating this regulatory landscape is complex, but it is what we do best.

Our dedicated compliance team manages every aspect of export documentation from our facilities. We have built strong relationships with wildlife authorities in both South Africa and the United States, allowing us to process permits efficiently and accurately.

  • We process all required Export Permits for CITES Appendix I, II, and III species.
  • We provide Veterinary Health Certificates for every live shipment.
  • We handle customs pre-clearance and airway bill documentation.
  • Buyers are responsible for obtaining necessary Import Permits.
  • Buyers must hold valid local venomous keeping licenses where applicable.

Transit Procedures

We utilize specialized live-animal freight forwarders and airlines with dedicated temperature-controlled cargo holds. We categorically DO NOT use standard postal or courier services for live reptiles — the risk is unacceptable.

Every shipment is personally overseen by our logistics team from departure to arrival. We monitor flight schedules, weather patterns, and customs processing times in real-time to ensure seamless delivery.

  • All shipments are tracked 24/7 by our in-house logistics team.
  • Venomous shipments are double-bagged and placed in locked, escape-proof crates.
  • Shipments are scheduled strictly around safe weather windows.
  • We coordinate with cargo facilities for priority handling and reduced dwell time.
  • Direct flights are prioritized to minimize transit duration and handling.

Our Shipping Process

From order confirmation to live arrival, every step is designed with the animal's safety as the absolute priority.

1

Order Review

We verify your permits, licenses, and shipping address. No animal ships until compliance is confirmed.

2

Health Check

Every animal undergoes a pre-shipment veterinary examination to ensure fitness for travel.

3

Secure Packaging

IATA-approved crates with climate control, cushioning, and species-appropriate containment.

4

Live Delivery

Express cargo with 24/7 tracking. You receive real-time updates until the animal is in your hands.

Industry-Leading Packaging

The difference between a healthy arrival and a DOA often comes down to packaging. At VenomCore, we have invested years into perfecting our shipping containers and protocols.

Our packaging is not improvised — it is engineered. Every box, every heat pack, every piece of insulation is selected based on the species being shipped, the journey duration, and the destination climate.

  • IATA-compliant wooden crates for venomous species
  • Insulated polystyrene boxes with double-wall construction
  • Phase-change heat/cold packs calibrated to journey duration
  • Moisture-retaining substrate to prevent dehydration
  • Breathable mesh panels for adequate ventilation
  • Shock-absorbing foam inserts for fragile specimens

Venom Product Shipping

Venom Product Shipping

Venom products — whether liquid, lyophilized (freeze-dried), or crystallized — require an entirely different shipping protocol from live animals. These are biological substances that must maintain potency, purity, and chain-of-custody integrity throughout transit.

We ship venom under strict cold-chain conditions using dry ice or gel packs depending on the product type. Every vial is sealed, labeled with batch numbers, and accompanied by full documentation including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Certificates of Analysis.

  • Temperature-controlled shipping with cold-chain monitoring
  • UN-certified packaging for biological substances
  • Full MSDS and Certificate of Analysis included
  • Discrete packaging with no external branding
  • Separate from live animal shipments — never combined
  • Customs pre-clearance for pharmaceutical imports

Shipping FAQ

We actively export to over 80 countries across six continents. Major markets include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, the UAE, and South Africa. If your country permits the legal importation of the species you wish to acquire, we can generally arrange a flight. We strongly recommend consulting with your local customs or wildlife authority prior to placing an order to confirm import eligibility and permit requirements.
Processing times vary significantly depending on the species classification and the importing country's regulatory framework. Non-CITES species can typically be exported within 1 to 2 weeks. CITES Appendix II animals generally require 4 to 8 weeks for permit approval. CITES Appendix I species may take 12 weeks or longer due to enhanced scrutiny. We maintain open communication throughout the process and will keep you updated at every stage of the bureaucratic workflow.
The safety of the animal is our absolute priority. If temperatures at the origin airport, layover hub, or destination fall outside of safe parameters — typically below 40°F (4°C) or above 90°F (32°C) — we will proactively delay the shipment. We monitor global aviation weather patterns, cargo hold conditions, and ground handling temperatures daily. If a delay is necessary, we will reschedule the flight for the next safe window and notify you immediately. There is no additional charge for weather-related rescheduling.
While rare, transit fatalities can occur. To qualify for our Live Arrival Guarantee, you or an authorized agent must receive the animal on the first delivery attempt or collect it from the cargo facility within 2 hours of arrival. In the event of a DOA (Dead On Arrival), you must notify us via email or WhatsApp within 1 hour of receiving the package. Your claim must include clear photographic and video evidence of the animal, the packaging, and the shipping label. Once verified, we will offer a full replacement of equivalent value or a complete refund at your discretion.
No. Live animals must be shipped via specialized live-animal cargo protocols and clear through designated wildlife inspection ports. Venom extracts — especially lyophilized powders and liquid formulations — clear through pharmaceutical or chemical customs channels and require completely separate airway bills, packaging standards, and regulatory handling. Combining these two categories in a single shipment would violate both aviation safety regulations and customs protocols. We always ship them separately with independent tracking numbers.
We accept Bank Wire Transfers, Western Union, MoneyGram, and select cryptocurrency options for international orders. For established customers with a proven purchase history, we may offer limited credit terms. All payments are processed through encrypted channels. A 50% deposit is required to initiate the permit application process, with the remaining balance due before shipment. We do not accept PayPal for live animal or venom transactions due to their restricted goods policy.
Shipping costs are calculated based on the destination country, the total weight and dimensions of the shipment, the species classification (venomous shipments require enhanced packaging), and the airline or freight forwarder selected. We provide a detailed shipping quote after you submit your order but before any payment is processed. There are no hidden fees — the quote you receive includes all freight charges, documentation fees, and handling costs. Import duties and taxes, if applicable, are the responsibility of the buyer.
Yes. If your import permit is delayed or you need time to prepare your enclosure, we offer short-term holding and quarantine services at both our South Africa and US facilities. Animals are housed in species-appropriate conditions with regular feeding and health monitoring. Holding fees are calculated on a weekly basis and must be paid in advance. We can also arrange for extended acclimation periods for sensitive species to ensure they are fully stabilized before transit.
